General Description

UNIVERSAL’S Resignated Lignite (UNITEMP) is designed to provide filtration control over a wide range of temperatures and in the presence of contaminants. It is a temperature-stable, synthetically formulated resin and lignite complex that has proven to be one of the most effective high-temperature filtration-control additives available. UNITEMP is a resin and lignite-formulated complex. It is used as a highly efficient additive to improve HTHP filtration and rheological stability for all most water-based drilling fluids systems. Fluids treated by this product exhibit excellent ability to resist contamination.

Application of Resignated Lignite

UNITEMP is a broad-application fluid-loss-control agent that can be used in virtually any water-base mud. In the field, applications have given excellent results in freshwater, brackish water, seawater, salt water, lime, gyp, lignosulfonate, polymer, and non-dispersed systems. It stabilizes and extends the temperature limitations and contamination- resistance of water-base mud systems to above 400°F (204°C). It is notably effective in high-density muds where fluid-loss control can be achieved without increases in viscosity.

Recommended Treatment 

Normal treatment ranges from 2 to 6 lb/bbl (5.7 to 17 kg/m3) depending on the degree of filtration control desired, the original mud system characteristics, and the environment. The product is designed to have a minimal effect on the viscosity of most mud systems; however, UNITEMP may reduce the viscosity of non-dispersed systems
