Causticized Lignite-UNICL

UNICL facilitates in controlling rheology and reduces fluid loss, extends temperature limits, emulsifies oil, reduces flocculation, and stabilizes water-base drilling fluids. Additionally, it has an alkaline pH, therefore it does not require large caustic additions to maintain a stable pH. UNICL is a partially soluble additive that provides thin, low-permeability filter cakes accompanied by low fluid loss. It is especially effective in high-temperature applications and in dispersed systems as a synergistic additive with lignosulfonates. UNICL is used in virtually any water-base fluid

Applications

UNICL may be used for rheology and filtration control in all water-base muds and for helping maintain a constant pH. Moreover, it is especially effective at stabilizing the properties of muds exposed to high temperatures and contaminants such as calcium. Additionally, UNICL does not require treatments with caustic soda. It is compatible with all common mud additives.

Recommended Treatment

Normal treatments of UNICL range from 1 to 10 lb/bbl (2.85 to 28.5 kg/ m³ ). In high-salinity systems, it is preferable to premix the UNICL in freshwater to enhance dispersibility. Furthermore, add the premix to the active system. UNICL functions effectively in mud systems with an alkaline pH in the range of 9 to 11.
