POTASSIUM LIGNITE- UNITEMP-K

Potassium lignite is the humic acid of leonardite treated with potassium hydroxide and used for use in potassium systems to control rheology, reduce fluid loss, and provide potassium for shale inhibition. UNITEMP-K  is a specially formulated modified lignite compound. compatible with all water-base mud systems but it is developed especially for use in potassium-based mud systems.

Applications

Primarily UNITEMP-K finds application in Potassium based inhibitive mud systems as a filtration control agent (Both at API and HPHT stipulated conditions) and as a deflocculant. It is also used in freshwater, brackish, sea, and saltwater mud systems for the same purposes. Furthermore, this maintains stability at temperatures above 200ºC and is an excellent emulsifier of oil in water emulsion fluids even at high bottom hole temperatures in deep wells. It also facilities effective shale stabilization in the water system when used in high concentrations.

Recommended Treatment for Potassium Lignite

UNITEMP-K may be added to the system through the mixing hopper. Depending on viscosity and fluid loss requirements, 1 to 6 lb/bbl (2.85 to 17.1 kg/m³) may be required. Improved HTHP filtration control and rheological stability under adverse conditions, such as high temperatures, may require greater concentrations. It requires pH 9.5 or greater. This helps improve the mud system and product performance.

• Most effective in alkaline systems with a pH of 9.5 or above
• Contains chrome which may not be acceptable for all applications, depending on local environmental regulations and considerations
